Second City Neighborhood Tours

This summer, The Second City is pleased to offer a variety of options for neighborhood tours appropriate for all ages.

· Old Town Insta-Greeter Tours – Free tours offered every Saturday from 10:00am – 3:00pm for groups of 10 and less from Chicago ’s Greeter Service. Enjoy a tour of Old Town with a local! Guides are available at The Second City Main Entrance at 1616 N. Wells.

· Second City Neighborhood Tours – Beginning June 13, this humorous and historic walking tour of Chicago ’s Old Town neighborhood will begin on Sunday, June 13th, 2010 at 1:00pm and will continue every Sunday and Wednesday through September 5th, 2010. Wednesday tours are available at 4:00pm. Written by Margaret Hicks, an experienced Chicago tour guide and writer, “The Second City’s Neighborhood Tour” both entertains and informs while highlighting the architecture, history and development of Old Town as well as various Second City alumni haunts and the stories that go with them. Tickets are $15 and can be reserved at 312-337-3992.

Perennial Restaurant-2 blocks from Second City!

Chakib and I dined at Perennial before Second City and were welcomed as old friends. The cuisine was so elegant and the taste was "empty plates"! Our first course was Sweet corn risotto, Italian parsley with white truffle oil. Every taste was a treasure. Our second course was sea scallop, wild mushrooms, short rib cannelloni gratin with tarragon sabayon and presented with European flair and an American smile! For dessert we will forever remember our cheesecake, raspberry custard, cream cheese foam, with graham cracker ice cream hidden inside. Their menu read "eat-drink-repeat", I can understand that. I interviewed my associates-four stars!

Just off the side is the new Parkside Hotel, not open yet but the lobby was a room of splendor.

You will want to return to Perennial again and again. Lucky neighbors. We are going back for the brunch and will let you know about that too. Reservations are available now, but as the weather improves it may prove difficult to get in.

As the national election coverage subsides, The Second City e.t.c. cast entertains us with a classic example of smart, satirical humor that has made Second City what it is today. · Come check out our Touring Companies in “The Best of Second City” every Monday night on the Second City Mainstage. "The Best of the Second City" is a two-act revue featuring sketch comedy, songs, and improvisation that draws from the vast archives of material that Second City has created over 40 years. Tickets are $15 each. A real bang for your client’s buck!

For a fabulous night of total entertainment, bring your group to see world famous comedy at our Chicago landmark! Enjoy a great meal in Chicago’s historic Old Town. We offer Dinner/Show Packages with a wonderful variety of area establishments: Italian, French, Mediterranean, Steak and Bar-B-Q House, Stir Fry and Pizza. Our preferred restaurants have created delicious menus with special pricing for our clients. Some of our restaurant partners provide a secluded room for our larger groups! These packages are available any night of the week and are a great way to enjoy some authentic Chicago cuisine.

Rent our Theater:
Recommend a private viewing of one of our fabulous revues! The Second City is available for private parties, fundraisers, and special events of all kinds. The Second City has a full bar available throughout all performances and we do allow catering for private events. Please note we do not rent out the theater on Friday or Saturday nights.
